Hands-on Workshop: Research Management Using the Open Science Framework

Date:

Friday, February 15, 2019, 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Location:

90 Mt. Auburn Room 021

This is a special class for Love Data Week

Working with frustrating, unmanaged data? Need to get your data organized and documented? This introduction to managing, annotating, and publishing research data using the Open Science Framework is for you! Managing your data is not only essential for responsible research, it will help your data be findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable.

The Open Science Framework (OSF) is a free, open source web application that connects and supports the research workflow, enabling scientists to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of their research. Researchers and students use the OSF to collaborate, document, share, and register research projects, materials, and data.

In this session you will:

  • Explore project management features of the Open Science Framework
  • Identify options for online publishing of projects and data using the Open Science Framework
  • Use the Open Science Framework to link and aggregate other file management applications across multiple environments

Location: Harvard Library, 90 Mt. Auburn Room 021

Instructor: Julie Goldman, Research Data Services, Harvard Library

Prerequisites: Participants should bring a laptop to fully participate in the workshop.
