    Working with Data (Part 1)

    In this workshop, you will get a sense of what is possible working with humanities data and understand how humanities scholars approach “data”. We will introduce multiple scenarios with different datasets to help you develop strategies for organizing and cleaning data. Tools may include OpenRefine, Google Sheets, and R with RStudio. Attendees should plan on some prework, including installations and brief background readings.

    Digital Presentation for Academics

    In this workshop, participants will learn how to enhance their scholarly impact by learning: how to create better slides; which digital tools to use for different presentation tasks; how to create an interconnected digital scholarly presence. We'll go over graphic design principles and how to create compelling visual content with tools such as Mapbox, Flourish, Datawrapper, and Voyant. We'll also explore different avenues for showcasing and digitally publishing your work through scholarly portfolio websites, data repositories, GitHub for code and data, and more.

    Intro to NVivo (for Windows and Mac)

    We will explore the software using a variety of primary source materials including: interviews, focus groups, images, videos, surveys, and social media platforms. NVivo provides easy ways to code, analyze and visualize qualitative data.
